Music from the Days of Mickey Mouse

Step inside the Silver Spurs shop in Frontierland and make your way to the back to find an original 100 year-old mint-condition Nelson-Wiggen Orchestrion, an “orchestra” in a cabinet” manufactured in the mid-1920s. A spectacle of entertainment during its day, the inside features an elaborate collection of instruments, including drums, a piano, tambourine, mandolin, wood block, cymbal, triangle, castanets, and a xylophone. Go ahead and drop in a quarter while picking up some supplies for the trail and enjoy some musical entertainment from the early days of Mickey Mouse. To learn more about the orchestrion itself, read the article “Orchestrating the Story That is Disneyland” in the book Disney History - Rare & Unknown.
