Jungle Cruise Plane
While braving the rivers of the Jungle Cruise, you’ll come across the back half of a silver plane fuselage. Slowly being consumed by the dense jungle, it sits on a riverbank, no doubt with a harrowing tale to tell about how it came to rest here. The most common rumor you hear about it is that it’s the back half of the plane that used to appear in The Great Movie Ride attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as a backdrop for Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman’s famous scene in Casablanca, with some also believing that it’s from the actual plane used in the film. That would then mean that this section of fuselage is the back half of a Lockheed Electra. However, while it shares some of the same characteristics as that plane, none of the designs of that aircraft ever had round windows, so this casts some serious doubt on those rumors. Another story you will hear is that it is part of the company plane that Walt Disney and his executives used to scout property while searching for a site upon which to build Walt Disney World Resort. That story is untrue, since that plane still exists in its entirety and has recently been refurbished. While there is a mystery surrounding this plane, one thing is for certain, and that is the classic 3-circle Hidden Mickey riveted into its side.
